LIFEGUARDS
  • Must be at least 15+ years of age.

BUSINESS MANAGER

FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Board of Directors Revision Date: 11/1/22
Leadership Level: Team Leader Primary Function/Department: Finance

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed
to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Business Manager intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming,
genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. The Business Manager also ensures a system of
strong internal controls and fiscal soundness and provides direction and leadership for YMCA
finance and business operations.

Essential Functions:
1. Manages all functions of accounting and business operations.
2. Oversees and provides leadership to the annual budget process including: issuing
guidelines and procedures; training staff, auditing budgets, overseeing data input and
preparing reports. Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top
priorities and strategic objectives.
3. Hires, trains, and oversees assigned staff, providing direct supervision.
4. Manages the annual independent audit, the preparation of financial statements and the
IRS 990 tax form. Prepares or oversees the preparation of required audit schedules;
maintains records; acts as liaison with the YMCA Finance Committee.
5. Implements appropriate systems and internal controls to adequately safeguard the
YMCA’s financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial
data.
6. Prepares the month-end and year-end closings and the preparation of statements and
reports. Includes timely preparation and review of monthly financial statements. Uses data
to analyze financial trends and forecast future financial progress for the organization.
7. Manage and oversee the employee payroll processing including maintaining records and
related systems.
8. Collects and maintains data on grants and how the funds are being allocated.
9. Coordinates and supports assigned aspects of the annual campaign in conjunction with
the Second VP. Prepares packets for the board members. Serves as staff officer to annual
Campaign Chairman.
10. Manages accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as daily deposits of all cash
and daily reconciliation. Ensure appropriate tracking systems are put in place and
followed.
11. Assists branch staff and serves as the point person for software and business questions
specific to POS and payroll.
12. Oversees office functions such as petty cash, office equipment and supplies as well as
managing purchasing of supplies and equipment.
13. Maintain fundraising records in conjunction with recurring and special projects as directed
by the board of directors & Executive Director.
14. Attends the monthly board meetings and finance meetings and records the minutes of
these meetings. Shares those minutes with the board in a timely manner.

● Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the
ability to adjust.
● The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Minimum of an associates degree in accounting or equivalent
● Experience in organizational accounting preferred
● Knowledge of, and expertise with, computerized accounting systems and standard
business software
● Ability to direct assigned operations including development and monitoring of budgets
and fundraising

Salary: $45,000-$60,000
