High intensity, low impact, endurance building aerobic workout. Burn calories while toning and strengthening muscle using a variety of dance and calisthenic moves. Improve balance, coordination, and flexibility. Water depth is waist to chest level. It is not necessary to know how to swim. Classes are 50 minutes. The evening class is a higher impact class. (This class is FREE to Y-Members with a Family Membership.)
Pilates Water Aerobics
Water Aerobics based on Pilates focusing on realigning the body, strengthening the core muscles and increasing flexibility while adding elements of yoga and stress reduction. Classes are 50 minutes.
High intensity, no impact workout with a flotation device. The exercises are in shallow and deep water, working large muscle groups. Classes are 50 minutes in the competitive pool.
This class has specially designed exercises in warm water for people with arthritis. These exercises use the water’s buoyancy and resistance to help improve joint flexibility and muscle strength. The warm water and gentle movements can also help to relieve pain, stiffness, and increase joint mobility. Water depth is chest to shoulder level. It is not necessary to know how to swim. People with multiple or severe joint problems or who have had joint surgery are encouraged to check with their doctors about the need for special precautions. Classes are 45 minutes
